Cocoa Beach Fishing Report
Report Date: August 25, 2009
This is my favorite time of year to fish. Reds are starting to spawn and finding schools with hundreds of reds doing their thing is not uncommon. We have seen reds school anywhere from 250-300 fish. We have been catching reds up to 48 inches all on top water plugs and sub-surface plugs. This is when you have to go heavy on your leader. I am using up to 60lbs leader with 30lbs braid. Extreme care is needed when handling these fish as the water temperature is in the upper 80s to lower 90s. Make sure the fish is good health before releasing them so that they are around to fight another day.
